  2. See the Imakefile for configuration parameters.  To build, do the usual:

  4.     xmkmf -a ; make ; make install ; make install.man

  6. (If you don't have xmkmf, or the Athena library, which are a standard part
  7. of X, then your vendor is doing you a disservice.  Report it as a bug.)
  8.  
  9. xkeycaps is a graphical front-end to xmodmap.  It opens a window that looks
  10. like a keyboard; moving the mouse over a key shows what KeySyms and Modifier
  11. bits that key generates.  Clicking on a key simulates KeyPress/KeyRelease
  12. events on the window of your choice.  It is possible to change the KeySyms
  13. and Modifiers generated by a key through a mouse-based interface.  This
  14. program can also write an input file for xmodmap to recreate your changes 
  15. in future sessions.  See the man page for more details.

  17. The latest version of xkeycaps is always ftpable from FTP.X.ORG.

  19. What follows is a list of the keyboard types that xkeycaps knows about
  20. (this is the output of "xkeycaps -help".)  If you're using a keyboard not
  21. on this list and would like to make xkeycaps know about it, read the file
  22. `defining.txt'.  Adding a new keyboard type isn't hard, just a little
  23. tedious.  Please send me any changes/additions you make!

  25. Note that most of these keyboards have not yet been verified with the 
  26. X Consortium's R6 server!  It is entirely possible, even likely, that the
  27. default keymaps and keycodes are incorrect for that server.  If you are
  28. using one of these keyboards, and you notice a problem, please let me know.
  29. Such problems are usually easy to fix: read the file `defining.txt'.

  31. NOTE: X11R6 patchlevel 0 had bogus keycodes for the Sun keyboards.
  32. This was repaired in patch 1.  If you're running p0, you should upgrade!
